Isn’t She Beautiful Update 1
Just a quick update on the conference at Mars Hill in Michigan.
The first session was about being the Eucharist. My intent is to post more detailed notes on this later but it was a indepth look at what it is like to give your body and your blood to others. Loving others comes at a cost. We pour ourselves out. Work can drain us physically, intelectually, and even emotionally but work in the church has a unique way of draining one spiritually. Common example for pastors is after giving a message on a Sunday morning someone may say that really fed me. Which is true. And where did that feeding come from? You. You gave yourself. You poured yourself out. You gave your blood. You entered into something spiritual. And because of this it is absolutely vital for us to draw a way and let Christ pour back into us.
After a brief break - Bell basically responded to questions that had been written during the break. Most of them had to do with rhythms and patterns of life, family, and staying healthy.
Got caught in traffic so I missed his interview with the lead pastor of Mars Hill.
Breakout session 1 was on Narritave Theology and How We Read the Bible.

Wow! That was incredable.
Max - The conference was called Isn’t She Beautiful and it was held at mars hill in grand rapids michigan. The teaching pastor at mars hill is Rob Bell who is the speaker in Nooma and wrote the book velvet elvis. (I’m guessing you knew that but if not both are worth checking out) The conference was on celebrating the local church.
Lon - Got a surprise for you. send me an e-mail mschmidt@trcpella.com and I’ll see if I can’t snail mail you something.
I hope to kick out the notes tomorrow night when I get back home. Well worth the read.

Glad to see others liked the conference as well…I often wonder who else is on the same page as me? As I like to say, Welcome to the revolution!
