The 100 Family Initiative
One of the joys I have had in working toward launching The Bridge in Ottumwa has been the close partnerships with the people of Third Church. I count it a privilege to have worked on staff for the past seven years and an honor to be sent out from such a church. And though it has been sad at times as my family and I reflect on what and who we are leaving, we cannot help but look foward to what God has in store for us. Our hearts are burdened for the people of Ottumwa. Each day I am in Ottumwa, I believe the Lord reveals more of what He wants to happen in that city, and I can’t wait to be a part of it.
The love of Jesus compels us to dream big and ask for even bigger. We are dreaming about being a community whom invite people into a full life of Christ and send them out to live a full life in Christ. We long to see individual lives transformed and healed, but we also want families and neighborhoods transformed and healed. Our dream is to gather on Sundays and scatter Monday through Saturday. We long to be in the community, schools, parks, and neighborhoods and loving those whom we come in contact.
In all of this, we are asking you to be a part of the mission. It is our goal to have 100 families join the growing number of already committed families for the first six months of The Bridge. It is my hope that the following Q&A will help you understand not only what the 100-Family Initiative is, but also why it is such an intregal part of the planting process for The Bridge. You are invited to join us in the adventure!

Lon - great to hear from you again. I don’t have a great answer for where the number came from but the two driving factors were the number of people currently attending our mother church and a desire to have a set amount of people each week. The number 25 looked big but winnable each week.
Parke - Just posted the Q&A - sorry it didn’t get done yesterday.

Yesterday was the launching of the 100-Family Initiative and we had over 40 families sign up! The response has been very encouraging and is allowing us to connect to many others about what is going on.
