THE Q&A

What is the 100-Family Initiative?
The 100-Family Initiative is a specific way in which Third Church and the city of Pella can partner with The Bridge during the first six months of the church launch.  Families would commit to attend The Bridge in Ottumwa one specific Sunday a month.

How will this initiative help The Bridge?
We believe God does not use one individual to plant a church but rather a whole team and community of people.  Our hope is to start with a lot of people moving in a specific direction.  The greater the number of people and the clearer the direction, the greater the momentum created.

Who can be a part of the 100-Family Initiative?
Anyone can be a part of the 100-Family Initiative.  Our hope is to have students, singles, young couples, kids, established couples, and the Pillars all participate.  No one is too young or too old; all have a valuable role in the 100-Family Initiative.  You don’t have to be a member of Third Church to participate.  Our goal is to find people who have a passion to live out Acts 1:8 in the city of Ottumwa for a season.

What will their role be with The Bridge?
The roles for those participating in the 100-Family Initiative vary from the highly involved to simply driving down and attending.  Our hope is to recruit out of this pool of people to help serve in different areas on a Sunday morning.  These places include nursery, children’s ministry, setting up, tearing down, greeting, coffee making, smiling, worship team, helping with lights, hosting, and whatever else we discover along the way.

What are the expectations?
The minimum requirement for joining the 100-Family Initiative is to attend The Bridge on one specific Sunday a month from August to January.  We also require you to attend a vision casting meeting to be held in July.

When do I have to make my decision by?
We are asking that you prayerfully consider this as a family/individual.  If you feel led to join us, please sign up by April 29.  This will greatly help us in preparation for launch Sunday.  If, however, you decide after April 29 that you would like to join us in this initiative, simply use the contact information for The Bridge and let us know.

How do I sign up?
There are multiple ways of signing up.
  1.  You can e-mail The Bridge marty@ottumwabridge.org
  2.  You can call the church office 641-628-3051
  3.  You can go to The Bridge table in the main lobby during Sunday morning services on April 15, 22, and 29

Will there be transportation available?
Yes, there will be transportation available each week.  We are planning on sending the 22-passenger bus each week to Ottumwa.  If additional transportation is needed, we will arrange car pools for those families/individuals with others who will be attending.

Can I still attend The Bridge even if I’m not a part of the 100-Family Initiative?
Yes, you can still attend.  The 100-Family Initiative is a specific strategy in the launching of The Bridge, but everyone is welcome to come and visit any time they want.
