A Quick Update

I haven’t found myself in front of a computer for quite sometime.  This is somewhat strange typing again.  As I start to get back into the swing of communicating with those who are interested in The Bridge and everything else that is going on I thought it would be good to share about some of the things have been going on as well as some thoughts I’ve been wrestling with.

Working on a house is hard work.  We spent over $1100 on gas in April and I was spending 1.5 to 3 hours a day driving.  I was able to listen to some sermons, some scripture, sports radio, and sometimes nothing at all.  We moved all of our stuff in a little over a week ago and then five days later we moved ourselves in after living in our van.  Toby is adjusting and enjoys all of the train whistles.  We still have about 10 days of aggressive work on our house before it will feel like a home.  Which is good timing as seeing we are under 50 days until baby #2 comes.

We had three weeks of sign up for the 100-Family Initiative and were excited about the response.  110 Families have signed up.  We will be changing the name of this group of people to Launch Team in the coming weeks.  We also will be forming up our Core Team and have a meeting planned for later in the month.  I have yet to invite anyone to this so if you are reading this and wondering why you didn’t know that could be the reason why.

May 17th I’ll be taking a theology, polity, and sacraments test.  This is the third to last hoop for me to jump through for our denomination.  I still have a paper to write and some yeah or neigh vote that will happen later this summer.  This test is pretty big time so I’ll be spending a lot of time studying for it.

I’ve also been reading some books - The Only Road North, God on Mute, and Twelve Ordinary Men.  I read multi-site revolution but didn’t find it all the helpful.

Different thoughts I’ve been having outside of The Bridge have been drawing parallels between the Revolutionary War and the Church, the word deceive and how prevalent deception is in the book of Genesis, and I’ve also been wondering about where empathy comes from and how come people are more empathetic then others.

Until next time -
