Back & Forward

Just throwing out some things that just happened and a few things that are coming up.

Looking back -  A week ago Sunday I was host at our Mother Church and during the offering I did Q&A with the church letting them ask anything they wanted about The Bridge.  I highly recommend doing this!  Most of last week was spent in preparation for the Commission Pastor exam.  Contents of the exam included:  Biblical Knowledge, Systematic Theology, Reformed Church Polity, and the Sacraments.  There was great joy in hearing that we all passed but even greater excitement in knowing I’m on the other-side of that mountain.  Thank you to everyone who was praying over that day.  I celebrated by taking my brother-in-law and a couple friends to Milwaukee for a Twins-Brewers game.  Got back Sunday evening to find that our house had been carpeted, a closet had been sheet-rocked, and we have AC!  Jenny is very excited about that being in her 9th month and the temperature going up each day.  On Monday I put a deposit on an office for The Bridge starting in July.  It is half way between the BridgeView Center and our home.  An ideal location, setup, and price for what we are planning on using it for in the first year.

Looking Forward - New Hires start next week Monday.  Matt Terlouw just got back from Spain an engaged man and is interning with us for the summer.  Kate has been hired at 30 hours a week with what once was a mock job title but since stuck as “Implementer of All Things Bridge”  She has been highly engaged with getting up to speed and I look forward to the lightening of the load in the admin department.  This Friday I’ll be speaking at Pella’s High School Graduation - if you want to share any thoughts on what to do with that feel free - I’m leading towards using Erwin’s brilliant work with the word atamos-atom-atomic.  Next week Tuesday and Wednesday we meet with Portable Church and Wednesday evening we have our first Core Team meeting.  We have renamed our 100 Family Initiative crew to the Launch Team for simplifying terms.  More on that later.
