Pictures of our storm disaster
Last night started with us watching the storm brew outside our living room window. At the time I was conducting some marriage counseling when it became clear that the sirens weren’t lying about a possible tornado. I love watching storms but I love my family more so we got everyone downstairs. After 10 minutes we came back up and all was fine. An hour later our basement started flooding. Nothing new to us. We can usually keep up with it with a shop vac. Then a pipe that has a rubber cap split open because of the water pressure from the city. It was like a crack in a dam. It became much more difficult to keep ahead of the water. At times we had two inches in areas. After an hour of work I gave up and at about the same time it quit leaking in. An hour later (10:30pm) I was getting ready to take a shower when a slow moving train crash was heard. Jenny said, “Do you think that was our tree?” (Quick background - we have a 100 year Soft Maple that has branches hanging over our neighbors house and garage. Last week we signed a contract with a guy to come cut them down. He was going to come this week.) Sure enough we look outside and there is our tree on top of our neighbors. However, it could not have fallen in a better spot. It fell in-between their house and garage and then the other branch fell in our yard on the other-side of the garage. Damage? Sure but it could have been so much worse. These neighbors are amazing. They have been great about everything. Below are the pictures.
