Weeping Part 4 (the hidden face of God)
I’m reading a devotional book by Michael Card each morning. (almost each morning) The idea behind the book is that when life is difficult, horrible, and cruel it is the best time to lean into God. One of my favorite chapters thus far was chapter 9 - Morning and Mourning. He said that Psalm 30:5 could be translated that, “Mourning may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” Both morning and mourning have a sense of waking up to them. In the morning we get up or wake up. When a time of mourning comes it is a time when we come to our senses. Recognize what was or is going on. We wake up to a new reality. Our current reality.
There have been times in my journey to more wholeness that I have recognized things in myself that I formally didn’t know. In those times of healing were many tears. But as I woke up to those realities I was able to allow the Spirit of Christ to set me free. There will be many times of mourning for me but I am recognizing them as times of leaning into Christ and listening to him to find out what he wants to teach me in those moments. I’m finding out that God isn’t hiding in those moments but rather guiding in those moments. Using life to transform me into who he has called me to be. That is a beautiful thing.
